Industrialised Construction Awards Winner

PCE is proud to have been awarded Best Use of Industrialised Systems & Technologies at the 2026 Industrialised Construction Awards for its work on 3 Copper Square - a project that exemplifies the power of industrialised construction when applied from the outset.

Delivered for Related Argent, with BAM as Main Contractor, 3 Copper Square is a landmark residential development at Brent Cross Town. The project was realised through PCE’s HybriDfMA Frame structural system, bringing together design, manufacture, and assembly into a single, integrated delivery approach.

A Truly Hybrid Approach

At its core, 3 Copper Square is a demonstration of what true hybrid construction looks like in practice.

Rather than selecting a single material or structural solution, the building has been designed to leverage the strengths of each component:

  • Precast concrete provides robustness, fire performance, and programme certainty
  • Structural steel enables long spans and design flexibility
  • Cross-laminated timber introduces lightweight, low-carbon structural efficiency

The result is a highly optimised structure, balancing performance, sustainability, and buildability.

Industrialised from Day One

What sets 3 Copper Square apart is not just the materials used, but how the project was conceived and delivered.

By embedding industrialised construction principles from the earliest stages, PCE worked collaboratively with the project team to:

  • Develop a platform-based, system-led design
  • Standardise components through a configurator-driven approach
  • Align design with manufacturing and assembly constraints from the outset

This early engagement enabled a seamless transition from design to production, reducing inefficiencies typically associated with traditional construction processes.

Manufacture and Assembly at Scale

With a coordinated offsite manufacturing strategy, key structural elements were produced in controlled factory environments before being transported to site for assembly.

This approach delivered:

  • Enhanced quality control and consistency
  • Improved programme certainty
  • Reduced on-site labour and disruption
  • Increased health and safety performance

By treating construction as a manufacturing and assembly process, the project team achieved a level of precision and predictability that is difficult to replicate through conventional methods.

Delivering Better Outcomes

3 Copper Square highlights the tangible benefits of adopting an industrialised mindset:

  • Greater certainty in cost and programme
  • Improved build quality and repeatability
  • Reduced carbon impact through material optimisation
  • A safer, more efficient construction environment

It also reinforces the importance of early engagement in unlocking these outcomes, ensuring that design decisions are informed by real delivery constraints and opportunities.

Recognition for a Collaborative Effort

This award is a reflection of the collaborative approach taken across the entire project team. Delivering a building of this complexity required alignment across design, engineering, manufacturing, and on-site assembly, all working towards a shared goal.

Looking Ahead

As the construction industry continues to evolve, projects like 3 Copper Square demonstrate a clear direction of travel.

Industrialised construction is not a future concept.

It is a proven methodology delivering measurable benefits today.

At PCE, we remain committed to advancing this approach, combining systemised design, digital tools, and manufacturing-led thinking to deliver better buildings, more efficiently.
