City apartments contract
PCE Precast Design & Build has completed the first phase of a major design-to-delivery contract providing some 251 new apartments as part of a major city development.
Following the success of a number of projects for Countryside Properties Plc, PCE is delivering a total design and construction package for two new blocks at New Broughton in Salford, Greater Manchester, the development that will also include commercial space and parking.
PCE has already completed its work on the first block, providing 152 apartments, where the team has constructed from an in-situ concrete transfer slab at second floor level to Level 8 using off-site fabricated precast concrete units.
Work is about to commence on a second block, which will provide 99 apartments, rising to six-storeys at its highest level and featuring ground level undercroft parking.
The total contract includes the design, procurement and erection of around 1,300 precast concrete external and internal wall units, together with beams, columns, stairs and landings. Approximately 16,500 sqm of hollowcore concrete flooring is also being installed.
The development is part of a large regeneration scheme less than a mile from Manchester city centre. The overall plan provides for a new primary school, leisure and community facilities, together with a new parkland area. |
