PCE breaks into moulds
PCE is commissioning its own moulds to produce floor units for its innovative GT Slab parking system.
The new system cuts down the amount of concrete needed to construct multi-storey car parks and, therefore, the overall weight and bulk of the structure.
The moulds are 16 metres long and 1.8 metres wide with self-ujacking heads for pre-tensioning/de-tensioning the steel reinforcing strands which run through the concrete. They will provide consistent dimensions and a high quality soffit and top concrete finish.
PCE has commissioned its own purpose-made steel moulds to manufacture the patented floor units at the heart of the system. This will enable production to be moved between suppliers without delays caused by make-up and set up times for traditional moulds.
It will also allow floor units to be made closer to the site where they are to be used, saving on transport costs and creating a more sustainable approach to manufacture.
