Car park is shipshape and Bristol fashion!
PCE has completed its first design and build car park project at the Hengrove Leisure Centre in Bristol.
During the 14-week project PCE erected more than 550 precast concrete units including 48 external wall units, 235 hollowcore flooring panels, columns, beams, a liftshaft, stairs and landings.
The project also included the construction of a retaining wall structure comprising 145 precast units. The contract allows for a ten-week erection programme followed by screeding and finishing works.
The split-level car park concept was designed by PCE for Kier Western and we were also responsible for procuring the manufacture of all precast components which were produced at Bison Concrete Products in Derbyshire, where PCE embedded staff to supervise manufacture and quality.
The car park will have more than 320 spaces with 150 places at ground floor level and a further 176 on the suspended deck section. It will serve a new leisure centre which is being built on an adjacent site by Kier Western.
