PCE's 'smarter solutions' are founded on the two levels of opportunity presented by the use of precast concrete as a construction material.

The first centres concrete's properties as a material and the benefits of producing concrete components in a factory-controlled environment. Properties such as finish, thermal mass, density, durability and accuracy, together with acoustics, air-tightness and fire resistance all contribute to the overall performance of the finished building.

Modern concrete structures are often self-finished and incorporate provision for services, fenestration and other features that can be “built in” off-site, saving considerable time and cutting down on the number of “trades” required.

Secondly, PCE adds value with smart designs and specification that enhance functionality and effectively create an 'intelligent solution'. PCE can focuses on the opportunities that most lend themselves to a prefabricated solution. This could be self-finished composite sandwich panels, fenestration fitted off-site, or the integration of services into the precast elements with enhanced finishes to facilitate direct decoration of the precast surfaces and the removal of expensive secondary finishes.

Often modular systems such as bathroom pods and lift shafts can be integrated into the wider solution to offer significant timesaving and safety benefits. This modular approach can be extended to embrace the functionality of the building through the mechanical services strategy and roof finishes with PCE offering advice and expertise on the potential opportunities available.
