Where precast concrete doesn't present the most appropriate design solution, other prefabricated systems such as insitu concrete, structural steelwork or timber are incorporated into the design. This hybrid approach ensures total flexibility and best value for our clients along with the optimum design solution.

Whole life performance issues such as acoustics and air-tightness are easily satisfied by PCE's design approach. Through careful specification and the use of efficient robust design details, concrete's density as a material combined with unparalleled levels of site workmanship can be utilised to offer a totally compliant system which does not require any subsequent preparatory treatments to achieve compliance. Also, by taking a holistic approach to the structures performance in operation and its services strategy, the thermal mass of concrete can be utilised as part of a smarter design which takes advantage of the buildings fabric to store and dissipate energy.

Further whole life benefits are available such as reduced maintenance due to the durability and robustness of concrete as a material. Also, through careful material specification and utilisation of appropriate manufacturing techniques and resources PCE is able offer structural elements with very high quality surface finishes. These components are suitable for receiving direct decoration without any preparatory treatment again removing both cost and interface issues.
