Flexible Design Approach
Through providing our clients with practical, flexible design solutions PCE are able to tailor our approach to the style or rating of a particular hotel project. Irrespective of whether it's a budget hotel or a luxury hotel, our flexibility in the products we specify and the scope we can deliver ensures that we can satisfy the brief and successfully deliver the needs of a project.
Utilising a hybrid approach to superstructure design ensures that we can optimise the benefits of different construction materials and systems, whether it is to assist the structural design, provide high quality spaces, or to simplify the coordination of the building services and fabric. PCE's 'flat-pack' precast concrete panel and slab systems offer total flexibility satisfying any architectural and structural configuration both in geometry and scale. The structural system is ideal for multi-storey construction with 20 storeys plus being readily achievable and can be easily complimented with modular products such as lift shafts, risers and stair boxes to aid constructability and offer cost and programme benefits.
Bedroom wall thicknesses are specified to satisfy both the structural design and the acoustic performance specification for the building. Slab depths and type are selected based upon span requirements, finish and functionality with slab geometry being influenced by manufacturability, handling and transportation. External cladding can be provided by PCE as a structural precast concrete panel with preformed openings for fenestration. These external panels can also be supplied as a pre-finished composite sandwich panel which forms the architectural facade of the structure. Alternatively, we can provide edge support to the structural slab and the building façade can be left fully open to take a proprietary curtain walling system.
PCE's solutions provide internal spaces that either cellular in form (bedrooms) or open plan such as receptions and conference suites. Where required, structural steelwork is introduced to provide slender vertical structure or long span support with a 'flat slab' construction. This approach to flexibility and hybrid construction includes transfer structures and basement structures. Transfers can either be provided in structural steel framing with concrete decks or through utilising a hybrid insitu:precast concrete solution. Major advantages in terms of coordination, programme and cost are available through this strategy.
To complete the façade solution, balconies, winter gardens, terraces and julliettes are also easily provided with PCE's precast systems.
