PCE was responsible for the design and construction of a purpose-built custody centre, which forms a key facility at the core of the new police headquarters.
The high-security centre was constructed entirely in off-site fabricated precast concrete, which provided both a speedy construction solution and met the requirement for a robust low-maintenance complex essential for the end use.
More than 250 precast units were erected to form the centre, which features a central control and monitoring area with four wings, each accommodating 10 detention cells leading off.
In addition to the design & build contract for the detention facilities, PCE’s construction team was responsible on behalf of precast supplier Techrete for the erection and fixing of high quality architectural precast units to form the façade of the main police HQ building.
