PCE's expertise in the safe, speedy and efficient design, supply and erection of precast concrete lift shafts was harnessed by Miller Construction for the construction of four lift shafts at the core of a new college complex.
With a tight deadline due to Miller’s need to move to the main phase of construction, PCE erected five shafts ranging from 14 metres to 21 metres in height. All the precast concrete lift boxes were manufactured off site and delivered to a strict “just-in-time” schedule within a time frame spanning just five working days.
The modular lift shaft sections – 27 single units and 10 double sections – were erected in sequence by PCE crews using a 40 tonne mobile crane with base sections placed on pre-laid plinths, followed by the erection of three single and one double tower, which were then capped to complete.
PCE was also responsible for a “supply only” agreement for 27 precast stair and 14 landing units.
